This was the actual original cover concept used to pitch The Hidden to the publisher and then for use in a catalog advertising the book before it was even begun (!). I eventually changed the setting to the desert rather than snow storms, and opened up the plot a bit. The original story was about a group of strangers at a snowbound cafe (based on Twilight Zone -- long before the Hateful 8!). And each character tells a story - and one turns out to be Victor Frankenstein who has caused the world to end.It might have worked. But I rewrote it (for the better, I think). |
